Heritage Christian Online School (HCOS) is a thriving learning community offering K-12 home, in-class and online education to students across the province of BC. HCOS provides flexible solutions and programming tailored to every child's learning journey. HCOS Education Assistants are independent contractors who are resourceful and innovative educators, providing student support to Home Learners within the Inclusive Education Department.
Summary
We are looking for a part-time Education Assistant who has a desire to learn and grow in knowledge of supporting a grade 11 student in Duncan, BC, for 8 hrs/week during the 2025/26 school year. Additional hours supporting this student's sibling and other students may be available.
Specific training working with students with diverse abilities, such as an Education Assistant certificate (or equivalent), is preferred.
Responsibilities
As an Education Assistant, your duties and responsibilities with this student will include:
- Providing one-to-one support with academic tasks such as scribing, summarizing, organization, etc.
- Supporting student in IEP Math and IEP English to help them achieve their learning goals
- Assisting with the development of executive functioning and self-regulation skills
- Contributing to the social, spiritual, and academic growth of the student, providing mentorship to the whole person
- Assisting in carrying out IEP goals, working alongside the broader student support team
