About Us: Novid Inc. is a leading manufacturer of stainless steel tanks, recognized for our commitment to quality and innovation. We are looking for a skilled Drafter to join our team, specializing in SolidWorks, technical drawings, bill of materials (BOM), ERP systems, and custom work. The ideal candidate will also be proficient in Excel and experienced in managing custom projects within a manufacturing environment.
Job Overview: The Drafter will be responsible for creating and managing technical drawings, handling bills of materials, and using ERP systems to support the production of standard and custom stainless steel tanks. This role requires proficiency in SolidWorks for detailed design work, experience with ERP systems for product documentation, and advanced skills in Excel for data management. The candidate will also manage custom design projects, ensuring they meet specifications and production requirements.
*** This is an 18 month term position with a requirement to be on site 3 days per week in Rosenort, MB***
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Drawings:
- Develop and maintain detailed technical drawings for custom stainless steel tanks and related components using SolidWorks.
- Create accurate 3D models, assembly drawings, and schematics that reflect design specifications and manufacturing requirements.
- Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, company guidelines, and customer specifications.
Custom Work Management:
- Handle custom design requests and projects, ensuring that designs meet specific customer requirements and production capabilities.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to integrate custom designs into the manufacturing process.
- Provide technical support and revisions for custom projects as needed.
Bill of Materials (BOM) Management:
- Generate and manage detailed bills of materials for custom projects, including parts, weldments, and assemblies.
- Ensure BOMs are accurate, up-to-date, and align with the latest design changes and material requirements.
- Work with procurement and production teams to verify BOM accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
ERP System Utilization:
- Utilize ERP systems to manage and track product data, including design revisions, BOMs, and production schedules.
- Update ERP records to reflect design changes, material orders, and production progress.
- Ensure seamless integration of design data with ERP systems to support efficient production planning.
Excel Proficiency:
- Use Excel to organize, analyze, and present data related to design, BOMs, and production processes.
- Develop and maintain spreadsheets for tracking custom projects, material costs, and production metrics.
- Generate reports and perform data analysis to support decision-making and process improvements.
- Design Support:
- Provide drafting support for design engineers, including modifying existing drawings, preparing detailed specifications, and assisting with design revisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address design and production issues, ensuring timely resolution and accurate documentation.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all drawings, BOMs, ERP entries, and custom project details.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and quality requirements.
- Prepare and manage design change notices, revision history, and related documentation
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to ensure alignment and address technical challenges.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to provide updates on drawing status, BOM changes, custom projects, and ERP data.
- Communicate with customers on requirements and details.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Drafter, with a focus on SolidWorks, technical drawings, BOM management, ERP systems, and custom work.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for creating 3D models using design tables and technical drawings.
- Experience with ERP systems and their application in manufacturing environments.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
- Strong knowledge of stainless steel or steel manufacturing processes and materials is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
