Modern has been proudly supporting the building industry on the Sunshine Coast, Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland and is the local source of quality windows, doors and building products since 1986. Our customers include DIY, residential, and commercial builders.
In this full-time role, you will play a key part in supporting our production and manufacturing operations in our Abbotsford Branch. You will put your skills to work by contributing to the production and assembly of residential and commercial steel doors. You will support our business in the following ways:
Key Job Responsibilities:
· Build and assemble doors according to specifications using hand, power tools, and prehanging door production equipment.
· Measure and align parts, fitting door frames, installing glazing, affixing hinges, and applying weather stripping.
· Weld, fabricate, and assemble commercial steel doors, frames, and related components according to specifications.
· Ensure that materials are labeled correctly and accurately.
· Maintain an organized and safe workspace following all company safety policies
· Loading and unloading products being shipped or received.
· Ensure products meet quality standards.
· Work with a team to meet production targets and deadlines.
· Ability to work well with others and in a safe manner.
· Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications:
· Previous experience in a production facility, home building supplies industry or a manufacturing environment is an asset.
· Prior experience with commercial steel door welding and prehanging door production
· Ability to work with a variety of hand tools, power tools and assembly machinery.
· Proficiency in quality control checks.
· Ability to interpret simple drawings, work order instructions, and follow templates.
· Functional math skills to calculate and measure with ability to read tape measure.
· Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with both internal and external customers.
· First Aid, WHIMIS, and Forklift Certification(s) an asset but may be provided.
Environmental & Physical/Mental Demands:
· The physical demands of this job require the employee to have good coordination and be able to lift up to 50-150lbs.
· Physically fit for lifting, bending, and moving materials and may involve repetitive motions.
· Employees will be working in a moderate to loud production environment near moving equipment.
· Must be committed to working safely and following all health and safety policies.
Total Pay Package: Competitive compensation and extended benefits plan including, medical and dental available at 6 months.
