Heartland Housing Foundation serves over 900 households in Fort Saskatchewan & Strathcona County as a not-for-profit housing management body and the administrators for provincially funded rent supplement programs. We operate 12 properties, including affordable lodges, rent-geared-to-income seniors housing, and near market housing for all ages.

- 7:00am – 3:30pm
- 4 days on 4 days off rotation schedule, including weekends and holidays
Pay
- Competitive pay, starting at $19.08 per hour

Position Overview
Join our Food Services team as a Dishwasher, where you'll play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment in our kitchen and dining areas. Your responsibilities will include washing and sorting dishes, utensils, and cookware, both by hand and using dishwashers, ensuring they meet our hygiene standards. Additionally, you'll support the overall cleanliness of the kitchen and dining room through tasks like sanitizing, sweeping, dusting, and polishing surfaces. This position offers the opportunity to be a crucial part of our team, contributing to the smooth operation of our Food Services department.
Responsibilities
Kitchen/Dining Room Cleaning
- Dishwashing and Sorting: Clean and sort dishes, utensils, pots, pans, etc., either by handwashing or using the dishwasher.
- Daily Cleaning Routine: Perform daily cleaning tasks including sanitizing, sweeping, dusting, and polishing in the kitchen, storage areas, cooler, and dining room.
Food Services Operations
- Dining Room Support: Assist in the dining room by serving and clearing tables and dishes as necessary.
- Daily Communication: Maintain daily communication with Chef, Cook, and/or Baker regarding operational needs and required tools and supplies.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Stewardship:
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and promote a culture of safety within the organization.
- Cleanliness and Hygiene: Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, adhering to health standards at all times.
Requirements
- High School Diploma is preferred
- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen and/or working in a supportive living facility is an asset
- Completion of a current and acceptable criminal records check for the vulnerable sector as required by the Protection for Persons in Care Act and the Accommodation Standards and Licensing Act is mandatory
- Attainment of a Food Safety Certificate is required
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and internet usage is required
- First Aid and CPR certification is required or must be attained soon after hire
Working Conditions
- Ongoing customer service interaction and communication with staff, site residents and visitors
- Physical activity involving walking, standing, bending and lifting
- Exposure to high heat or cold temperatures. (Cooler, freezer, oven and stove)
- Must be able to lift, push and pull equipment and supplies in accordance with the position’s Physical Demands Analysis document
- Operation of kitchen equipment is required
- Must handle and work with various cleaning solvents and chemicals
- Shifts may change according to organizational needs and occasional overtime may be required
- Occasional exposure to unpleasant or abusive individuals
