Key Responsibilities:
- Request and receive all required documents from party requesting access to information or disclosure, prior to providing the file.
- Identify and request all necessary case documentation and obtain these documents from CPIN, Matrix and legacy systems as required.
- Receive access to information and disclosure requests and prioritize based on type and timelines.
- Complete all access to information and disclosure requests in accordance with the applicable policies, procedures, legal requirements, legislation and timelines. Use redacting software as necessary to complete these requests. Provide summaries of pertinent information as required.
- Maintain an up-to-date system to track access to information and disclosure requests and completions.
- Communicate with JF&CS staff, clients, external agencies, and community partners, as required.
- Complete all forms and closing procedures, as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You Will Bring:
- Accredited College Diploma in Paralegal or Law Clerk.
- Two (2) years’ experience in a related field working with legal disclosures.
- Experience working within Child Welfare and/or Indigenous Child-Wellbeing setting would be considered an asset.
- Basic knowledge of the Child, Youth & Family Services Act (CYFSA), of child protection proceedings. Basic knowledge of privacy legislation and practice in Ontario, including Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
- Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive information and adhere strictly to privacy and confidentiality policies and practices.
- Demonstrated superior attention to detail and sound judgement.
- Knowledge of Agency programs and services.
- Proficiency in the use of technology, including Adobe Pro.
- Demonstrated understanding of filing systems.
Additional Information
This is a part-time position, working three days per week.
Salary range: $59,000 – $72,000, pro-rated based on a three-day workweek.
