The Opportunity

The Strategic Policy and Competitiveness Division is seeking an exceptional leader for the role of Director of Regulatory Modernization. This position in the Corporate Services Branch will be responsible for Regulatory Modernization, Financial Programs & Planning and Performance.


The Job

Reporting to the Executive Director of Corporate Services, the Director of Regulatory Modernization will:

  • Lead the Government of Saskatchewan’s efforts in reducing red tape, including providing support to the Red Tape Reduction Committee;
  • Develop, implement and evaluate government’s next phase of regulatory modernization strategy;
  • Proactively engage stakeholders on priorities;
  • Work with other jurisdictions and organizations to achieve results in the interests of Saskatchewan business;
  • Monitor the approach of other jurisdictions to improve the competitiveness of the regulatory environment and provide advice to senior officials, Ministers and Cabinet on strategies Saskatchewan can take to be the best place to do business from a regulatory perspective;
  • Development and administration of financial programs, in support of the provincial Growth Plan and the Investment Attraction goals.
  • Lead the Ministry’s strategic and business planning, risk management, performance measurement, performance monitoring and reporting, improvement, innovation, and evaluation.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of business planning, accountability processes and risk management;
  • Political acumen and skills demonstrated through experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders on sensitive issues; and,

Typically, the knowledge and skills required in this position would be obtained through the completion of a university degree in Business Administration/Commerce, Economics and/or a related discipline, and several years of experience in a management role.
