Worley Canada Construction is looking for a Director of Project Controls for our growing Project Control team to work from our Edmonton Home Office.
Position Summary:
Directs and manages the entire spectrum of Project Controls activities for Worley Canada Construction. Responsible for the management of the Project Control activities including scheduling, budgeting, cost control, risk management and reporting. Responsible for managing the project controls team.
- Lead development of project specific PC execution strategies
- Lead development and setting standards for advance Project Controls reporting (cost, progress, earned value, resource, bench marking, etc.)
- Manage development of procedures for various project control activities including control budget preparation, cashflow, forecasts, progress tracking, change management, Contingency management and planning/scheduling functions;
- Chair monthly project status review meetings for the program;
- Provide technical guidance in the areas of Cost Management & Control, Schedule Development and Management & Control, Earned Value Management, Change Management and Forecasting;
- Manage cost activities including development and implementation of cost control systems, invoice processing activities, monthly cost reporting, trending, FAC Analysis, cost variance analysis, funding budgets and cash flows;
- Manage project benchmark metrics;
- Manage planning & scheduling activities including development of summary and detailed project schedules, progress and performance monitoring, schedule deviations and workaround solutions; plans and manages the execution of internal audits of critical commercial internal control systems;
- Manage project controls resource assignment including recruitment and training;
- Facilitate and oversee the risk assessment, mitigation and contingency planning process for the Program
- Coordinate and issue consistent project reports, including progress, cost and schedule;
- Ensure full integration between the estimating, cost control, planning/scheduling, and risk management functions within projects;
- Ensure that invoices are tracked, confirmed and handed off to Accounts Payable properly.
- Support and advise senior business leaders on project controls issues and needs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years experience in industrial construction and/or maintenance field required specializing in project controls. Field project controls experience with general contracting company preferred.
- Experience in leading / managing project controls teams
- Experience on large-scale oil/gas and petrochemical EPFC (Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication and Construction) projects.
- Demonstrated experience and working understanding of project planning and scheduling, cost control, progress tracking and reporting.
- Experience in setting up and managing details progress trackers for key commodities on construction projects
- Experience in tracking and reporting engineering and construction progress/performance
- Demonstrated capability to lead a group responsible for control of planning, scheduling, cost control and reporting activities
- Ability to interpret and perform analysis of cost and schedule reports and data
- Ability to lead SRA and CRA processes and applications
- Working knowledge and skills in the use of software such as Primavera, Power BI, Ecosys and cost control systems
- Demonstrated strong technical competence
- Demonstrated interpersonal/teambuilding skills
