Position title: Director of Development

Job type: Temporary, full-time, 18-month contract

Reporting to: Executive Director


About us:

We open doors for youth and prevent adult homelessness. We serve at-risk youth experiencing homelessness, aging out of care, or fleeing violence in the home. Young adults who need a place to call home and people who believe in them. We offer safe housing, community, and support to help youth make healthy choices and shift toward a brighter future.


Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Development leads the fundraising and donor relations areas of Threshold Housing Society. The Director of Development helps to plan and execute the organization's annual campaign strategies and is accountable for achieving the associated revenue and visibility targets. Key areas of focus for this role include donor cultivation and appreciation, event planning, marketing, and external communications. The Director of Development is responsible for increasing brand awareness in the wider community.


This is a temporary, full-time 18-month contract position. Primarily Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend commitments required. The salary range for this position is $81,900 to $108,615 per year dependent on experience and related skills. The successful candidate can expect to enter the organization no higher than the midpoint of the compensation range.


Education & Experience

  • Communications, Marketing, Business or related post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a role executing strategies related to fundraising, donor relations, event planning, and communications
  • Experience in the non-profit sector preferred, ideally within the youth sector
  • Experience in brand management and marketing
  • Experience with print production, website and digital communications
  • Thorough knowledge of CRA gifts/contribution regulations and processes
  • Must have a valid drivers license and reliable vehicle; and
  • Experience with Wordpress and Keela is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required based on operational needs.
  • Travel is required to attend events, conferences, and meetings.
  • Hybrid position with the ability to work from home and from the Admin office at least twice a week.
  • Monday to Friday with 37.5-hour work weeks.

Special Requirements

  • Criminal record check prior to employment, and subject to regular review.
  • Up-to-date Emergency 1st Aid certificate.
  • Valid drivers’ license and access to a reliable vehicle with adequate insurance (business level).
  • Up-to-date membership in relevant professional associations or societies.
