Role & Responsibility
Key Capabilities & Responsibilities
- Calm under pressure with practical crisis management and decision-making skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate technical risks into business impact.
- Strong communicator capable of briefing technical and executive leadership.
Security Operations Leadership
- Lead the SOC team, ensuring continuous monitoring, triage, and escalation of security events.
- Oversee the implementation and tuning of SIEM, SOAR, EDR, and threat intelligence platforms.
- Maintain and evolve operational playbooks, runbooks, and escalation protocols.
- Provide data driven leadership and reporting based on various performance metrics.
Incident Response & Threat Management
- Own the end-to-end incident response lifecycle: detection, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident review.
- Serve as the Incident Commander for major cyber events, coordinating cross-functional response efforts.
- Maintain and test the Cybersecurity Incident Response Plan (CSIRP) regularly, ensuring alignment with evolving threats and business needs.
Threat Intelligence & Hunting
- Lead proactive threat hunting initiatives to identify latent threats within the environment.
- Integrate external threat intelligence feeds and collaborate with industry peers to stay ahead of emerging threats.
- Oversee External Attack Surface Management (EASM) and digital threat monitoring across clear web, social media, and dark web.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (e.g., SOC2, NIST, CSA) for the SOC.
- Provide regular metrics and executive dashboards on SOC performance, threat trends, and incident response KPIs.
- Collaborate with audit, legal, and risk teams during investigations and assessments.
Vendor and Contract Management
- Manage relationships with IR retainer providers and technology vendors.
- Coordinate onboarding and oversight of third-party SOC analysts and DFIR specialists.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies during investigations.
Relevant certifications include
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH)
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or equivalent education and work experience.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing SOC operations, incident response, and threat intelligence functions.
- Deep knowledge of SIEM, SOAR, EDR, and threat detection technologies.
- Strong understanding of MITRE ATT&CK, cyber kill chain, and threat modeling.
