The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual for the position of Director of Financial Services and Risk Management. This role will report to the Senior Director of Infrastructure and Finance Branch, under the Corporate Services Division. This position will oversee the Manager of Finance and Business Operations and two Financial Administration Assistants.
Position Overview:
This position will play a key role in leading the financial services, risk management, and contract management functions within the division including:
Business Cases and Project Management:
- Help develop and review business cases to identify cost-saving opportunities and process efficiencies.
- Provide financial information for Cabinet items and continuous improvement projects.
Gap Identification and Analysis:
- Review financial processes to ensure efficiency and value.
- Report on expenditures, revenue, and other financial areas to help inform decisions.
Risk Management:
- Identify, assess, and manage financial risks by implementing controls and monitoring techniques.
- Collaborate with Internal Audit to ensure proper financial controls are in place.
Financial Policy Compliance:
- Develop and enforce financial policies to meet regulatory requirements.
- Audit payments and ensure compliance with financial standards.
Financial Expertise and Consulting:
- Provide financial support to the division’s teams.
- Develop budget proposals that align with the division’s goals and ensure adequate funding.
Strategic Planning:
- Provide financial direction and advice to senior management.
- Track financial performance and oversee small capital projects.
Contract Management:
- Lead negotiations and contract updates with the Correctional Service of Canada.
- Ensure compliance with federal financial reporting and maximize federal funding opportunities.
