Nutritional Services is seeking a casual Dietary Technician to work in the Nutritional Services Department. Reporting to the Supervisors of Nutritional Services, the incumbent will be responsible for operating and maintaining the department’s menu management and food service operating systems. You will be accountable for the data entry of client diet information and menu selections as well as preparation and printing of menus for distribution. You will accurately and promptly update client admissions, transfers and discharge details and prepare client nourishment labels. You will also be responsible for performing a variety of general clerical duties associated with the department’s operational needs such as menu distribution, tray ticket preparation, and preparation of the department’s daily production guides. This position requires prolonged periods of computer use and frequent telephone contact with direct patient care frontline clinical staff and Clinical Dietitians. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position requires some evening and/or weekend work. This position is located at the Queen Street site and you will be required to work rotating shifts and weekends.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate is required to have a Diploma in Nutrition Management. Previous experience/knowledge of Computrition HS system will be considered an asset. Preference will be given to candidates who possess a strong knowledge in the use of Windows based computer applications and general clerical functions. You will also possess knowledge about regular and therapeutic nutrition diets. The successful candidate will be a self-directed team player who is highly organized and has the communication and interpersonal skills that enable them to work within an inter-disciplinary collaborative team environment. Computer literacy is required. You must have the ability to follow detailed written & oral instructions and must be able to cope with the demands of a fast-paced office environment with frequent distractions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to work both independently and as a team member with limited direct supervision are essential to this role. Ability to work with diverse clients and staff is required. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
