Role Summary:
Reporting to the Manager of Dietary Services, the Dietary Aide plays a pivotal role for the accurate and timely and safe delivery of food service to residents, staff and visitors.
While working in the dining room, the Dietary Aide is responsible for serving and retrieval of meals for residents, stocking kitchen food and supplies, and kitchen and dining room tidying duties. The Dietary Aide adheres to Seaview Manor Departmental standards and procedures, and following safety guidelines when working, and avoiding any food contamination by storing it properly.
Hours of Work:
Shifts include days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.
Qualifications:
- Grade XII or Equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year kitchen experience in a health care or similar environment
- Food Handlers Course Certification.
- Previous experience handling and preparing food in health care facility considered an asset.
- Enhanced experience in customer service.
- Knowledge of and experience with application of WHMIS GHS, routine practices and infection control considered an asset.
- Must provide clean Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Must be available to work on short notice and provide an extended availability calendar.
- Ability to cooperate and work within a team.
- Basic Computer skills.
Performance Requirements:
- Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
- Operate kitchen machinery (Dietary).
- Must be in good health and physically able to perform repetitive tasks, lifting, squatting, bending, standing, and walking.
- A friendly personality with good verbal and written communication skills.
- Promotes and maintains positive communication and relationships among staff, residents, and the public.
- Must be able to attend in service education and workshops and participates in team meetings.
- Performs other related duties as required.
