About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Developmental Aide to support children and youth with developmental disabilities in home and community settings. The successful candidate will implement individualized programming to foster communication, independence, social skills, and behavioral regulation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to children or youth with developmental or behavioral needs
- Implement therapist- or family-designed programming plans
- Encourage independence in activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Assist with communication development and social integration
- Track and report progress, challenges, and goals to the family or supervisor
- Collaborate with families, caseworkers, and clinical professionals
- Engage clients in age-appropriate community outings or recreational activities
Requirements:
- First Aid and CPR certification (mandatory)
- Access to reliable personal transportation and valid driver’s license (mandatory)
- Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities
- Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills
- Flexible availability (including after school/evening hours and/or weekends)
- Ability to work independently and adapt to a variety of client needs
- Valid PRC (with vulnerable sector check)
Assets (Not Required):
- Post-secondary education or coursework in psychology, social work, education, or a related field
- Non-violent crisis intervention or behavioral training (e.g., ABA, PECS)
- Multilingual or culturally sensitive backgrounds
Job Types: Part-time, Casual, Freelance
Pay: $25.00-$29.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 – 20 per week
