The role of a material handler / driver gives you the opportunity to be involved at arms length in the Sheetmetal Trade and become familiar with our company, people, projects, and the tools we use.
Lewis Sheet Metal typically hires apprentices who have completed a 30-week Foundations program in trade school. With this development position, if you excel for a one-year term and demonstrate that you are a good fit with our company values, Lewis Sheet Metal will waive this prerequisite and offer you an apprenticeship as a sheet metal worker.
Experience and job requirements:
Drive a 3 ton truck with standard transmission
Effectively manage time, schedule tasks, and meet commitments.
Written and oral English.
Clean drivers abstract.
Lift seventy-five pounds, as well as bend, twist, and climb.
Work independently without direction.
Work well in a team environment.
Comfortable with technology.
Responsibilities
Search for wasteful processes and participate in process improvement activities.
Safely and lawfully operate the following equipment:
16’ Cube Van (Manual Transmission)
14’ Flat deck truck (Manual Transmission)
Telescopic forklift (We can provide training)
Forklift (We provide training)
Deliver materials, tools, and equipment to jobsites, sheet metal workers and customers.
Actively participate in the unloading and storage of material and equipment.
Remove leftover& waste materials from site as directed by supervisor. Communicate with internal and external customers and provide deliveries within schedule.
Organize your delivery schedule using the company Trello board and manage your time appropriately.
Process shipping and receiving, following company standards.
Organize and store leftover material from project sites.
Ensure vehicles are clean, have proper maintenance scheduled and inspected.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Maintain accurate & detailed records of items delivered.
Maintain and improve systems for tagging and tracking tools and assets.
Shop tasks as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.

As a material handler/driver, you will have a significant impact on the success of the company. You must be well organized, responsive to customers, and have excellent communication skills. You must consistently follow established standards and you show commitment towards planning, continuous improvement, and eliminating waste.
You will transport material and equipment to work sites and customers. You will provide excellent customer service as the face of the company. When not making deliveries, you will be responsible for shipping and receiving, organizing tools and material, helping with shop tasks, and performing other duties as assigned.

Pay: $25.60-$46.64 per hour
