Role
Reporting to Director, Design Strategy and User Experience, you’ll join the Digital Media team where a major initiative is underway to modernize Radio-Canada’s digital ecosystem and make it more resilient in an evolving media environment. This work will be carried out in close co-operation with various departments and will help build the public broadcaster’s future.
The Design Lead, UX Research and Design, is an experienced and passionate leader responsible for ensuring optimal and consistent user experiences across our digital products. Your expertise in solution design will be crucial for incorporating UX research findings into user-centric experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy and Leadership:
- Work closely with the Director, Design and User Experience Strategy, and other departmental leads (Strategy, Product, Tech) to define the strategic direction for a transformative project impacting multiple digital products.
- Proactively collaborate with key partners (Content, Marketing, Brand, Sales) to influence and contribute to project success.
- UX Design:
- Help set up ideation workshops to clarify UX goals and business needs.
- Work closely with the Digital Product Interactive Designer to translate research findings into intuitive, scalable, accessible and environmentally sustainable design solutions.
- Support the Product team in deeply analyzing research data to clearly identify hypotheses and findings, providing clear, actionable recommendations aligned with business objectives and user needs.
- Present research results and UX recommendations clearly and persuasively to all stakeholders, including the Product team and business lines.
- Team Supervision:
- Guide and develop the research team in implementing the department’s UX research strategies and priorities.
- Ensure the quality and thoroughness of research methodologies (surveys, user testing, card sorting, interviews, focus groups, A/B testing, etc.) to validate hypotheses, derive valuable insights and deliver relevant analysis.
- Establish efficient planning and operational processes that comply with user research best practices.
- Market Intelligence and Expertise:
- Continually monitor digital market trends, social behaviours, emerging technologies (especially in AI) and best practices in UX research and design.
- Act as a leading expert in UX research and design for internal partners (e.g., Editorial, Sales, Communications, Marketing and Brand).
- Utilize market studies, audience insights and technological advancements to inform strategic decisions.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (interaction design, cognitive psychology, information sciences, etc.).
- Five or more years’ experience in user research and UX design, including two years in a management role.
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies (user testing, surveys, interviews, focus groups, A/B testing), data analysis and results presentation.
- Strong grasp of UX and interface design principles.
- Good understanding of continuous product discovery.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
- Passion for digital, social behaviours and innovation.
- Bilingualism (English and French), spoken and written, an asset.
