High Prairie Elementary School is located in the town of High Prairie in northern Alberta within Big Lakes County. It is located at the junction of Highway 2 and Highway 749, approximately 371 kilometres northwest of Edmonton and 118 kilometres west of Slave Lake.
The elementary school offers programming for students from ECS through to grade 6 with a total student population of over 350. The school supports a broad range of opportunities for students including leadership and French language programs as well as art courses and it is operated by staff with a passion for teaching.
The High Prairie School Division provides many supports for their employees. We employ a full time mentor coach who supports all new teachers to the Division with an Orientation program and on-site mentoring. The Professional Development opportunities are supported in many forms and all employees have many supports that allow them to grow and improve in their professional practice.
High Prairie Elementary is seeking a cook to prepare lunch for students in accordance with the Alberta Nutritional Guidelines for Children and Youth. This position involves:
- menu planning
- preparation, cooking and handling of food
- purchasing supplies
- working with students
The successful candidate for this position must:
- enjoy working with students and the public
- have a current Food Safety Certificate
- have a valid drivers' license and reliable vehicle
The following would be assets to your application:
- Standard First Aid
- Previous experience working in a concession/catering capacity
- Culinary arts education/training or work experience

- Successful candidates must produce an ORIGINAL, acceptable, recent (less than six months old) Criminal Record Check which must include a Vulnerable Sector Check.
