Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks according to daily menus and individual dietary needs.
- Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and food storage areas in compliance with public health guidelines.
- Follow safe food handling procedures and allergen awareness protocols.
- Ensure meals are served on time and presented appealingly.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to understand individual children’s dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Maintain inventory and inform the supervisor of supply needs.
- Follow all food safety and kitchen policies, including proper food storage and temperature controls.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations.
- Monitor food inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
- Ensure all equipment is cleaned and maintained properly after use.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food preparation or cooking within a restaurant or food service environment is preferred.
- Valid Food Handler Certification (mandatory)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in cooking within a licensed child care or institutional setting
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
- Clear and current Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Up-to-date immunization records and health documentation (as per ministry requirements)
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and love for working around children
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently

Pay: $17.55-$20.21 per hour
