Gryphon Development is a real estate development company based in Vancouver, BC.
We are looking for a Construction Safety Officer to promote Gryphon's safety culture and commitment to safety for our Vancouver Westside construction site. This is a full‐time employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily site safety inspection and audits to ensure all work is performed in a safe manner
- Conduct safety incident investigations, reporting injuries, near‐misses, or hazards onsite and provide periodic (weekly/monthly) safety reports to project team
- Provide site orientation to all personnel requiring access onto site
- Create, evaluate, and implementing strategic construction site safety programs and policies
- Provide input to improve safety programs, work processes, and policies
- Review safety documentation, plans, and certifications provided to ensure compliance with Gryphon and WCBC OH&S regulations and policies
- Verify personnel certifications/qualifications, equipment maintenance reports, and tools are safe for use
- Perform risk analysis to proactively identify hazards and implement appropriate mitigation strategies
- Identify and conduct specialty training requirements and qualifications such as fall protection, confined space, etc.
- Facilitate and attend, Safety Committee meetings, toolbox talks, periodic site meetings, pre‐job meetings, etc.
- Supervise trade contractors are performing work in a safe manner
- Manage, track and control first aid station supplies and inventory
- Report directly to Site Superintendent and Senior Project Manager
Qualifications/ Experience:
- 5+ years of construction safety experience
- NCSO designation
- Valid Level 3 First Aid certificate (OFA 3)
- In depth understanding of WSBC OH&S Regulations and policies
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions and working environments
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
Hours of Work:
Full Time
Monday – Friday: 7:30am‐4:00pm
Weekends and after hours work as needed
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.00-$40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
