Overview: CoreX is looking to hire a concrete cutting technician. This person would have experience operating slab saws, core drills, wall saws, wire saws and scanning equipment. We are willing to train the right individual but those with experience with this equipment are preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Operate Equipment: This is the core task. You'll be operating various heavy machinery such as concrete saws, drills, wall saws, jackhammers and grinders etc. You need to ensure proper operation of equipment, including maintenance checks and adjustments.
- Safety Compliance: Safety is paramount. You'll need to follow all safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), securing work areas, and adhering to safety guidelines while operating machinery.
- Material Preparation: Before cutting, you'll prepare the work area by marking out cut lines, setting up barriers or enclosures to contain debris, and ensuring that the area is clear of obstructions.
- Cutting and Drilling: Execute precise cuts and drill holes according to project specifications.
- Quality Control: Ensure the quality of work by inspecting finished cuts for accuracy and smoothness. Make adjustments as necessary to meet client expectations and project standards.
- Teamwork: Collaboration is often necessary, especially on larger projects. You may work alongside other concrete cutters, laborers, or contractors.
- Cleanup and Maintenance: After completing the cutting or drilling tasks, you'll be responsible for cleaning up the work area, removing debris, and properly storing equipment. Additionally, you may assist in routine maintenance of machinery to keep it in good working condition.
- Customer Interaction: Depending on your role, you may have direct interaction with clients or project managers. This could involve discussing project requirements, providing updates on progress, and addressing any concerns or questions.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of work performed, including any deviations from the original plan, equipment usage, and materials used. This documentation may be needed for billing purposes, project evaluation, or future reference.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, new techniques, and equipment advancements. Continuous learning and skill development are essential for staying competitive in the field.
Experience: A person with expericnce with slab saws, wall saws, coring and concrete scanning is an asset!
- Construction Experience: Previous experience in the construction industry is highly valued. This can include working as a laborer, concrete finisher, or in a related trade where you've gained familiarity with working on construction sites and understanding basic building theory.
- Mechanical Aptitude: A good understanding of machinery and mechanical systems is an asset.
- Technical Skills: Specific technical skills related to concrete cutting, drilling, and sawing are essential. This includes knowledge of different cutting techniques, understanding of various types of concrete and how they respond to cutting, and the ability to interpret blueprints or project plans.
- Physical Fitness: The job often involves physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and standing for long periods.
- Communication Skills: Effective communication is key, especially when working as part of a team or interacting with clients and project managers.
- Problem-Solving Skills.
