Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and personable Concierge to join the Merrill House team. Merrill House is a luxury boutique hotel home of 14 rooms that is also home to Brasserie Alexandria, a fine dining Canadiana-French cuisine restaurant, and the newly reimagined Bar Atlas. The chosen candidate will be the first point of contact for guests, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a memorable experience in our luxury boutique hotel and fine dining restaurant. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for hospitality. The Concierge will assist guests with inquiries, hotel and restaurant reservations, and various related services while maintaining a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
Duties
- Prepare rooms for guest arrival with Concierge Department special touches.
- Greet guests warmly and assist with check-in at the front desk for the hotel and restaurant.
- Process contactless check-outs, final payments, and invoice emails.
- Provide information about hotel amenities, local attractions, and services available to guests in person, via email, and over the phone.
- Handle guest requests promptly and efficiently.
- Manage phone systems to answer calls, take messages, and relay information to appropriate departments.
- Coordinate reservations for dining on behalf of guests.
- Maintain an organized front desk area.
- Ensure all guest inquiries are logged accurately.
- Assist the Housekeeping Department with light cleaning and laundry as required.
- Assist the Restaurant Department with breakfast service, evening hosting duties, and special event execution as required and as dependent on shift timing.
- Collaborate with the General Manager to enhance the overall guest experience.
- Uphold the highest standards of hospitality and professionalism in all interactions.
Skills
- Strong verbal communication and email writing etiquette skills.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on creating positive experiences for guests and staff alike.
- Self-motivated.
- Attention to detail.
- Multilingual or bilingual abilities are a plus, especially French.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to walk up and down stairs (building is 4 floors with no elevator at this time).
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs at one time.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year previous experience in guest services, event services, or hospitality.
- Experience working with point of sale and cash transactions.
- Familiarity with front desk operations in a hotel and/or a restaurant.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience with client management software is preferred but not mandatory.

Pay: $22.00 per hour
