The Community Support Worker is responsible for introducing and implementing ideas and activities that allow the clients in the day programs to complete tasks independently and/or with minimal support. The role assists clients with their day to day life skills; that may include social, leisure, health, and fitness.
Tuesday to Friday from 9:00am - 2:15pm.
Responsibilities
- Develops and participates in program activities and schedules with participants such as, personal/social development classes, recreation and leisure activities or community access and awareness, life skills training to include money management, bus training, and communications systems.
- Administers medications to clients, as required.
- Monitors health matters, to include; illness, seizure activity, and allergies.
- Attend various appointments
- Ensures the safety of all participants in the program when lifting, transferring and the loading of wheelchairs on and off the vans.
- Participate in all activities with participants including swimming.
Qualifications
- Community Support Worker Certificate, Health Care Worker Certificate or equivalent certification in a relevant field preferred.
- 3-6 months prior job experience (paid or volunteer), working with people with developmental disabilities
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License (Class 4 Driver's License will be required upon 90 days of hire)
- First Aid and CPR
- Negative TB test results
- Criminal Record Check
- Food Safe Certification
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.95 per hour
