We are seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Law Clerk with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or collaboratively. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft pleadings and file court documents through the e-Civil filing portal
- Prepare, revise, and proofread legal correspondence and court documents
- Coordinate and schedule examinations for discovery, issue notices, and prepare client prep letters
- Organize and review client documents; identify missing materials; prepare Affidavits of Documents
- Order transcripts, draft undertaking charts, and assist in providing responses to undertakings
- Prepare mediation briefs, pre-trial briefs, and assist with trial preparation, including summonses and joint books of documents
Skills & Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma in Legal Assistant, Law Clerk, or Paralegal program
- 5+ years of commercial litigation experience in a law firm setting
- Familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure and court processes
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure
- Highly organized with exceptional time-management and multitasking skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), GhostPractice, ACL, Dropbox, Adobe, Docusign, Zoom, and Case Center
- Legal research experience using CanLII and/or Westlaw is an asset
- Strong typing skills (75–80 WPM) with excellent written and verbal communication
- Self-starter with a proactive mindset, especially in time-sensitive situations
