The Actuarial Benefits Analyst (co-op) will provide group benefits consulting support, including design and financial management for existing medium and large clients and prospects. In addition, the Actuarial Benefits Analyst (co-op) will perform actuarial valuations, accounting disclosures of post-retirement and post-employment benefits, reserve calculations, simulation modelling, flex plan pricing and modelling and other actuarial and analytic projects. The Actuarial Benefits Analyst (co-op) will work closely with internal consulting teams, interface with vendors, support client deliverables, and ensure quality standards are met.
The Actuarial Benefits Analyst Coop Student, will:
Contribute to the overall design and management of group medical, dental, life, disability and special risk benefits for clients.
Prepare actuarial valuations of post-retirement and post-employment benefits plan, in accordance with accounting standards appliable to the plan;
Review all benefits documentation (contracts, booklets, collective agreement, amendments) for accuracy;
Annual renewal analysis and negotiations with carriers; prepare client reports and presentations;
Experience reporting, budget projections and reviewing plan financial performance;
Review financial statements for accuracy and adherence to underwriting agreements;
Conduct plan design benchmarking studies;
Assist and build plan design tools and financial database;
Conduct marketings, including preparing and submitting specifications, analysis, cost comparisons and recommendations on marketing responses, and preparing marketing report;
Gather data and determine cost impact for plan design changes;
Monitor carrier/provider services standards;
Support the consulting team in preparing documents for client presentations and meetings
To be successful as an Actuarial Benefits Analyst Coop Student with Robertson, Eadie & Associates, you will need:
To be a university student in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or related discipline
Advanced competency with Microsoft Excel
Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Strong analytical skills
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
The ability to manage and prioritize competing demands in order to meet client and company needs
The ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Sensitivity to confidential information
To be actively writing Society of Actuaries (SOA) or Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) exams
Knowledge of actuarial valuation software (e.g., ProVal) is an asset
