Strive Niagara is a non-profit, social service organization dedicated to assisting and fostering the independence of young families pursuing an education through the provision of licensed quality child care and other necessary community supports.
Position Summary:
The Clinical Support Worker will provide trauma-informed, family-centered clinical support to young parents participating in Strive Niagara’s programs, including the Young Parents in Program, as well as other families accessing services through Strive. This role focuses on enhancing mental wellness, parenting capacity, and overall family functioning through supportive counseling, referrals, advocacy, and coordination with internal and external resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group-based clinical support to young parents and families within Strive programs.
- Conduct intake assessments and develop individualized support plans in collaboration with clients.
- Offer crisis intervention, emotional support, and short-term counseling as needed.
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure a holistic approach to family support.
- Facilitate connections to external mental health, housing, parenting, and community resources.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and relevant training sessions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in supporting young parents and families affected by trauma, poverty, and other systemic barriers.
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Child and Youth Work, or a related field.
- Registration (or eligibility for registration) with a relevant regulatory college.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a clinical or community support role, preferably with young parents or high-needs families.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and strengths-based approaches.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation may be required.
Working Conditions:
- 35 hours per week with some flexibility required based on client needs.
- Work will take place in program locations, community settings, and occasionally remotely.
