Position Summary:

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a Clinical Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Dental Services, including paediatric dentistry and cleft lip & palate programs, as well as our Orthotics & Prosthetics Department. Reporting to the Senior Director, Ambulatory Care, the Clinical Operations Manager will provide operational and administrative leadership aligned with Holland Bloorview’s strategic priorities. The role encompasses staff management, business process optimization, and continuous quality improvement. You will oversee a diverse team of health professionals and administrative staff to ensure high-quality, timely service delivery and a workplace culture grounded in collaboration, empathy, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Management:
- Provides leadership in overseeing that program activities are in alignment with the organizational mission, vision, values and strategic plan
- Informs and executes on the annual operating plans developed by the Senior Director, Ambulatory Care and Chief of Dentistry
- Develops the annual team budget in collaboration with a Financial Analyst for review and approval by the Senior Director, Ambulatory Care and the Senior Director, Finance
- Oversees the team budget by analyzing and ensuring accuracy of complex financial and statistical data
- Monitors quality and key performance indicators, and adjusts operations as needed to maintain budget performance and business growth
- Manages human resources including recruitment, orientation, performance management and evaluation for administrative and clinical support employees from a variety of disciplines
- Responsible for maintaining and managing existing and new accounts and adhering to contracts within the business units
- Responsible for continuous quality and safety improvement initiatives of services, which includes working with key stakeholders such as the infection prevention and control (IPAC) and quality, safety and performance (QSP) teams and completing the necessary audits
- Responsible for the proactive review of processes, practices and resource utilization to enhance quality, operational effectiveness and efficiency
- Analyzes and interprets data to promote innovation with service delivery models
- Responsible for implementing measures to improve employee satisfaction in line with organizational practices
- Manages the program’s information resources and material and equipment resources ensuring regular maintenance is completed
- Oversees the effective and efficient use of clinical space
- Effectively utilizes team leads and program coordinators to facilitate operational oversight of the dental and orthotic & prosthetic departments
Professional Practice
- Collaborates with professional practice leaders to integrate objectives for “professional practice” into day-to-day operations by supporting and ensuring consistency in standards of practice
- Ensures the principals of respect and civility are upheld in both departments in alignment with all policies that direct code of conduct and behaviour at Holland Bloorview
- Responsible for the establishment of an accountability structure to maximize team performance
Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Master's degree preferred (MHA or MBA is an asset); Regulated health professional registration preferred
- Minimum of 5 years management experience in a health care setting, including supervisory and leadership/project management experience
- Well-developed leadership skills with demonstrated initiative and ability to actively mobilize and manage human and material resources within service area
- Demonstrated mental agility, sound judgment and use of diplomacy and tact in interactions
- Personal accountability, mature judgment, and ability to exercise independent discretion
- Must be able to organize and prioritize at the operational, tactical and strategic level, and balance competing priorities
- Ability to analyse complex financial and statistical data (i.e. workload and utilization indicators)
- Effective people management, coaching and mentoring skills including a knowledge of management principles and practices
- Demonstrated excellence in effective communication and in the ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships internally and externally
- Proven commitment to research and quality management activities
- Ability to critically evaluate, monitor and refine outcomes of assigned projects, making recommendations and changes.
