Job Information

Located within Stanton and reporting directly to the Manager, Critical Care Services, the Clinical Coordinator, ICU is responsible for supporting and monitoring the quality of nursing care provided by the Registered Nurses (RNs) in the ICU; as well as, provide nursing care to critically ill patients of the ICU in accordance with established standards of nursing practice and the philosophy and objectives of the NTHSSA to ensure that the patients' physical, emotional, psycho- social, educational and spiritual needs are met. Nursing Staff in the ICU are required to have and maintain, intensive, highly specialized training in critical care areas, in addition to general nursing training through an RN program. Patients in an ICU are routinely provided with life sustaining supports. The Clinical Coordinator works with nursing staff and in consultation with the Manager, Critical Care Services, ICU Practitioners, to implement patient treatment planning, and patient & family care in the ICU. The Clinical Coordinator provides clinical supervision, mentorship, support and guidance to RNs in the provision of patient care.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
A bachelor's degree in nursing and five (5) years of clinical experience within a critical care hospital setting in the past 10 years are required.
Certification in Critical Care Nursing (ACCN) is required.
Canadian Nursing Association Certification in Critical Care (CNCC) is desired.
Membership in Canadian Association of Critical Care Nurses (CACCN) is required.
Candidate must be able to demonstrate they are in good standing with the College and Association of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANNN).
