Pacific Post Partum Support Society is a small non-profit and charitable organization that has been providing mental health and emotional support to new parents and families since 1971.
We are currently seeking an on-site Childcare Worker for children of parents attending a two-to-three-hour weekly group meeting at our Vancouver location.
CURRENTLY HIRING FOR
- 1 Childcare Worker in Vancouver (W 10th & Ontario cross-street).
- Monday's from approximately 9:45am-2:45pm.
Anticipated start date: ASAP
Childcare Workers report to the Coordinating Childcare Worker and/or the group facilitator, and are responsible for providing a safe, clean, caring environment for children aged birth to thirty-six months. Ideal candidates will have experience working with infants and toddlers and will be passionate about supporting new parents and families during what can be a difficult life transition.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education/training & licensing are assets.
- Valid first aid certificate from an approved course or willingness to acquire one.
- Top candidate for the position must complete an application form and agree to criminal record and reference checks.
- Food Safe an asset.
EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience working with infants and toddlers.
- Able to work directly with parents to meet the needs of their children.
- Able to establish trusting relationships with both parents and children.
- Understanding of postpartum depression, anxiety, and difficult adjustment is an asset.
KEY RESPONSIBUTIES AND DUTIES
- Maintain a calm, safe environment.
- Assist with all childcare duties.
- Provide attentive observation of the children.
- Review all concerns about the children's health with the group facilitator.
- Report and document any concerns related to abuse or neglect to the group facilitator immediately.
- Listen attentively to parents’ concerns and issues.
- Adhere to the facility cleaning procedures.
- Adhere to the facility's current health policy to ensure minimal transmission of disease.
- Follow the facility's policies and procedures.
- Provide quality care at all times.
- Provide modeling for practicum students and other volunteer childminders.
- Sign Confidentiality Agreement.
