POSITION TITLE: Child and Youth Worker
2 positions – 4-8 hours per week
September 31, 2025 – June 30, 2025 (with possibility of extension)
JOB SUMMARY
South-East Ottawa Community Health Centre (SEOCHC) provides health, social services and community development to residents living in our neighbourhoods. We are seeking two Child and Youth Workers to develop and supervise indoor recreational activities and afterschool programs for children and youth ages 12-18 years of age. Successful candidates will have an abundance of enthusiasm and energy, and can lead small groups of youth, a variety of low organized games, and teambuilding activities.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Conduct community outreach activities to educate and inform young people on health promotion strategies.
- Develop informative, fun, youth-friendly, and engaging content to connect with our target audience of youth 12-18 years of age.
- Establish structured daily, weekly, and monthly program schedules, incorporating a variety of theme days and community initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Currently working towards completion of an undergraduate degree, college certification in a relevant discipline or combination of education and/or relevant experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working directly with children 12-18 years of age in social-recreation
- Experience working with multicultural communities; low-income neighborhoods; high risk families
Experience with program planning and delivering structured programming in a community-based setting
- Experience with door-to-door outreaching and participant recruitment
- Demonstrated effective leadership and mentoring skills
- Knowledge of current child and youth issues
- Ability to work with community partners and stakeholders
- Excellent communications and digital media skills
- Self-motivated team player with ability to work independently
- Flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances
- Recent Criminal Record Check
- Additional languages preferred (French, Somali, and Arabic)
- Valid Driver’s License is an asset
- Must be available to work Wednesdays 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM and/or Fridays 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Salary: $17.73-20.55 hour
