Responsible to the Food and Nutrition Manager and Food Services Coordinator for the performance of dish room, dining room, and kitchen tasks within the facility. The individual will exhibit sound judgement and initiative while working within the framework of the objectives of the service and the organization as a whole.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains and promotes health and safety standards and procedures according to CORE Support Services (CSS) guidelines.
Must hold in confidence all matters pertaining to clients, staff and CSS.
Promotes and maintains good working relationships and communications within the facilities, with other program personnel and with clients and the general public.
Contributes in activities related to the operation of food services by performing duties including, but not limited to:
Dish Room
Washes dishes in accordance with established procedures.
De-stains dishes and silverware as required.
Responsible for the safe operation and cleaning of the dishwasher.
Cleans trays, utility carts, kitchen tables, and racks as required.
Cleans dish machine and components, and floor mats as scheduled.
Dining Room
Works as a member of a collaborative team with other Food Services Staff.
Sets up client meal trays and nourishments aligning with safe texture and therapeutic modifications.
Portions menu items and sets up line for service.
Serves meals to staff and clients in cafeteria in accordance with established procedures.
Delivers and collects trays to/from units.
Fills requisitions for unit/program supplies and caterings as required.
Cleans cafeteria equipment and tools as scheduled.
Kitchen
Prepares foods and recipe items as directed.
Participates in putting away supplies.
Washes pots, pans, equipment and maintains neat and clean work area.
Maintains cleanliness of fridges, freezers and other areas in accordance with schedule.
Participates in a team approach by attending meetings, in-services and other training programs.
Ensures the continued integrity of the program by maintaining quality control standards, assisting in orientation of new employees, supporting fellow workers where possible and appropriate, and maintaining appropriate records, statistics, progress notes, inventories and other related data as required.
Complies with the Quality Management Program by keeping up-to-date on developments in food services and by participating in the continual development of the program and its personnel.
Promotes the mission of quality care by performing any other related tasks and duties that may be assigned or required, in order to maintain proficient work-flows.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge and experience in food services setting is an asset.
- Exhibit sound judgement and initiative.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Comfortable and respectful of people with disabilities.
- Ability to withstand the physical nature of the job including standing, bending, kneeling, and the lifting and moving of heavy and awkward objects.
- Available to work 12-hour shifts on weekdays, weekends, holidays.
- Required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check with vulnerable sector check.
