We are currently recruiting for a 24 hr. casual/On-call Personal Support Worker to assist a male employer who has Muscular Dystrophy in all activities of daily living.
The employer enjoys reading, walks on nice summer days, and he used to enjoy sailing often.
The ideal candidate will be someone who has a good sense of humor, is fun loving and understands when the employer wants to be left alone and when silence is appreciated.
Location:
- Lake Country (Near Kalamalka Lake)
Shifts & Hours of Work:
- On-call/Back-up
- 24 hr. shifts
- Start time 10:00pm
Compensation:
- $490 flat rate per 24 hrs.
Responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to):
- Daily personal care, such as showering, dressing, bowel routine, catheter care, Ostomy care (can be trained)
- Meal prep, mainly heating up meals
- Light housekeeping duties such as dusting, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom, ect
- Assist with errands and social activities during summer
- Overnight: May need support once a night but usually sleeps through the entire night
- Staff have a single bed in the same room as the employer
Required Qualifications:
- 6 months - 1 year experience
- Willingness to learn
- Experience with ceiling lifts
- Must be comfortable working in an environment with a friendly dog
- Class 5 driver's license
