Job Description:
Looking to hire a person interested in a carpentry career. The right candidate will have the opportunity to be sponsored to complete the general carpentry apprenticeship program. Looking to train someone to be a lead carpenter for a crew.
Tasks:
- Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
- Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
- Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
- Read cabinet drawings in order to build cabinet boxes in preparation for installation according to drawings.
- Cut and install crown moulding and trim on cabinets or windows and doors.
- Install exterior finishes, ie, siding, soffit, and fascia.
Work Setting:
- Shop work for assembling cabinets and spraying cabinet doors and trim.
- Various Job sites for installations
Pay: $18 - $35 / hr based on skill, ambition, and motivation to learn.
Hours: 35 - 45 Hours per week, 8+/- Hours per day depending on the project.
Travel: Localized to 40 min radius around Shipka Ontario.
Experience: Not necessarily required for the right candidate, but 2-3 year experience in the construction industry would be beneficial.
