Welcome to our home. My husband and I have simple tastes and a quiet, simple life. I enjoy watching TV and spending time with family. My husband has been my caregiver since 2009. We have reached the point that we are both exhausted and recognize that, to improve our quality of life, we need a little extra support. After 50 years of marriage, the support will also provide respite for him to not worry so much.
Support worker in private home for senior female. Must be comfortable working with total care in 2 person teams. Well versed in English, kindness, compassion, sense of humour, cooperative work ethic, patient understanding of pain, and positive values are a must.
This is a 2 man team and you will be working with another Caregiver on shift.
Location:
- New Westminster (Near Quayside Park)
Shifts and Hours:
- Saturday and Sunday: 9am to 5pm (Main Caregiver)
- Saturday and Sunday: 9am to 5pm (Assistant Caregiver)
Compensation:
- $26 per hour for the Main Caregiver
- $25 per hour for the Assistant Caregiver
Responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to):
- Assist with activities of daily living, including toileting, peri-care, bathing
- Assistance with nutrition support through meal preparation
- Administering medication
- Preparing transfers through mechanical transfers
- Performing massages on affected areas
- Range of Motion exercises
- Assistance with occasional skin care maintenance, minor wound care
Required Qualifications:
- 1 year of Caregiving experience in a professional setting is required, including assisting clients with peri-care and personal hygiene
- Experience using a ceiling lift for transfers in a professional setting
- Non smoker
- Excellent communication skills, written, speaking, and hearing
- Ability to adapt and be proactive
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, (must be open to potentially receiving boosters)
