The Role
We're seeking a motivated Business Development Representative to join our team and drive growth in the university market. This is a full-cycle sales role where you'll own the entire sales process from lead generation to deal closure, working with universities that value strategic corporate partnerships. You'll operate independently while collaborating closely with our CEO and marketing team to execute our growth strategy.
What You'll Do
- Full Sales Cycle Management: Handle the complete sales process from initial prospect research to contract signature, managing deals with 3-12 month sales cycles
- Lead Generation & Qualification: Identify and qualify prospects through outbound email and phone outreach, building a robust pipeline of university decision-makers
- Product Demonstrations: Conduct compelling online product demos via screenshare and Zoom, showcasing how our platform drives university-industry partnerships
- Relationship Building: Develop strong relationships with university corporate partnership teams
- Conference Participation: Represent the company at international higher education conferences, networking and generating leads
- Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with our marketing team to align outreach strategies and optimize lead conversion
- Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate forecasting and reporting in our CRM system
What We're Looking For
- Experience: 3-5 years in B2B SaaS sales or business development, preferably with complex sales cycles
- Education: University degree in STEM field strongly preferred; research experience is an asset
- Communication: Fluency in both English and French required
- Technical Comfort: Experience conducting online demonstrations, client support, or teaching over Zoom/virtual platforms
- Outreach Skills: Proven track record with outbound email and phone prospecting campaigns
- University Knowledge: Understanding of higher education landscape, research institutions, and academic-industry partnerships
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to attend international conferences and industry events
- Independence: Ability to work autonomously in a remote environment while maintaining strong team collaboration
