Position Details
The University of Lethbridge is seeking a full-time, Limited Term position as an Building Operator.
The Building Operator is responsible for the daily operation of the heating, cooling, humidification, and ventilation systems across campus. Specialized knowledge and skills are applied to scheduling, troubleshooting, monitoring, and manipulating Building Management System hardware and software to ensure equipment is operating normally.
This is a key member of the Building Systems team who form a rotation for regular and after hours standby duties ensuring a consistent indoor environment for all campus activities throughout the year.
Regular business hours are Monday through Friday – 08:00 – 16:00 with breaks and a lunch period.
Standby hours are any hours outside of regular business hours.

Position Qualifications
- Applicants should have a minimum grade 12 education and a 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate.
- Applicants should have 2-4 years of relevant experience in an industrial and institutional maintenance setting. This experience can be through a combination of apprenticeship and journeyman positions.
- Knowledge of Honeywell or Delta Controls software and greater number of year’s experience are considered assets.
- Knowledge of pneumatic, electric, and direct digital control components.
- Applicants should be fluent in the operation of typical HVAC sequences via Building Management Software and understand troubleshooting methods to go through should the systems not be functioning correctly.
- Additionally, the applicants should possess certificates in the following: WHMIS, Personal Fall Protection, Mobile Elevating Work Platform, and Intermediate First Aid & CPR C + AED.
The successful candidate will be required to have a valid unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License with no more than 6 demerits and submission of a motor vehicle record (driver abstract) dated within 3 months of the posting close is required.
Starting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)
$4,772.00 - $5,403.00 monthly
Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)
$4,772.00 - $6,034.00 monthly (AUPE - Grade 11)
