DUTIES AND ABILITIES:
- Complete pre-trip inspections
- Safe operation of machinery
- Excellent communication
- The boom truck operator also must be willing to work as a labor as needed
- Maintain track infrastructure i.e rails, ties, switches, surface, ballast etc.
- Operate and maintain various hand tools for assigned work
- Remove and replace defective ties, rails, and other tram materials
- Repair deviations in track surface, alignment, and gauge
- Unload ballast and distribute track materials
- Snow removal, vegetation removal, shoveling ballast and dirt, repetitive swinging, walking for long periods of time on uneven surfaces
- Ensure a safe working environment while following the policies and procedures set forth by the company.
- Maintain and protect company assets
- Able to perform repetitive physical activity, lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently
- Available for shift work, with occasional overtime when necessary
- Available for long periods of travel, including overnights
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Class 3a Licence
- Ability to pass CROR
- Boom/Crane Fundamentals
- Minimum 3 years working in the rail industry
- Must clear a Drug and Alcohol test
- TIGs Certification an asset
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Demonstrate good teamwork and maintain positive interactions with others
- Displays common sense and good judgment
- Hand-eye coordination
