Overall purpose of this position:
The barista’s goal is to provide the best possible experience to our customers. Baristas consistently provide excellent-quality drinks, facilitate a welcoming and clean atmosphere, are knowledgeable about the coffeehouse products, and serve as ambassadors to the wider public on the goals, values, and operation of JUCRC. They complete day-to-day tasks as required or delegated for the smooth operation of the coffeehouse.
Customer Experience Responsibilities:
- Providing an exceptional experience for all customers and commitment to the quality of producer-partners' products
- Ensure constantly clean, comfortable, and on-brand environment within our cafés
- Producing and serving quality drinks according to the recipes, standards, and methods set out by the Lead Barista Trainer
Operations Responsibilities:
- Ensuring shift-specific tasks are completed daily which include opening, mid-day and closing tasks
- Adhering to all health and safety and environmental workplace laws
- Adhering to and ensuring all Co-op policies and procedures
- Attending scheduled team meetings
- Attending and participating in educational opportunities provided by the Co-op which includes our internal Training Program
- Understanding and effectively participating in our worker Co-operative model
· Engage with other teams and departments while participating in the First Crack Innovation Program
Essential Hiring Criteria:
- Ability to communicate in English both written and verbally
- Basic math and computer skills

Desirable Criteria:
- First Aid Certificate
- Food Safety Training
- Experience in the coffee industry
- Experience in customer service as a Server, Host, or Barista
- Ability to use Microsoft 365 Apps including Word and Excel
- Ability to use POS System
Working Conditions:
- Ability to stand/walk for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to comfortably move and extend arms for prolonged periods of time
- Lifting up to 25kg on occasion
- Contact with wet/hot surfaces
- Shift work, including weekends, early morning, and late evening hours
