IMCO is looking for an associate to join the Investment Strategy team during an exciting period of transformative change and growth as we deliver IMCO’s sustainability objectives across its portfolio.
Reporting to the Managing Director, Investment Strategy, you will be collaborating across all IMCO asset classes, taking on topics most critical to delivering investment excellence, including delivering on key facets of investment strategy, delivering on key strategic initiatives and supporting research to shape IMCO’s approach and worldview on key sustainability topics;.
The ideal candidate has a track record of researching, translating, and implementing insights and initiatives, working in complex stakeholder environments, leading and facilitating discussions, as well as building strong relationships at multiple levels. This must be complemented by an ability to convey these concepts in a compelling manner to investment professionals and being seen as a thought leader on relevant topics.
As a member of our team, you will:
- Effectively use a wide range of internal and external resources to build expertise and drive to an answer to large-scale investment-related topics and trends;
- Support analysis of asset class portfolios to drive to insight across various strategic topics such as performance, attribution, exposures, peer benchmarking etc
- Support asset class teams on the annual investment strategy reviews and ad hoc investment strategy projects, as well as other strategic initiatives that support operationalizing of investment decisions;
- Develop & enhance knowledge of emerging themes / trends, maintaining up-to-date industry knowledge on key topics and translating those to inform asset class strategies and investment decision-making to drive investment excellence and superior returns;
- Monitor global SI industry developments, regulatory sustainability developments, ESG risks and related financial and pension industry trends to inform IMCO’s sustainability strategy, worldview, and priorities;
- Lead research and insights on sustainability, helping shape IMCO-wide view on opportunities and innovative solutions across clean energy transition, biodiversity, and other relevant SI topics;Assist in the operationalization of asset class strategies; collaborate with the asset management, OCIO teams, and middle and back office on relevant strategic initiatives
- Bring structured analytical skills and superior communication including with senior leadership (MDs/SMDs across Investments as well as the CIO)
- Liaise with various departments across the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Foster a culture of open and honest communication, building effective working relationships across the team and with various business partners.
You will bring:
- 4+ years of relevant professional work experience in consulting, investing, or investment banking, sustainability, or other relevant experience;
- A university degree in Business, Finance, Law, Economics, or fields such as engineering, climate science, environmental science, or other relevant disciplines. A graduate-level degree (e.g. Master of Business, Finance or Accounting) or a professional designation (i.e. CFA) is a plus.
- Familiarity with emerging trends, technologies, and policy developments in the energy transition and climate change space.
- The ability to grasp and translate technical concepts into insights, to think independently, and to design and drive the organization’s initiatives on key topics;
- Project management skills, including scoping, resolving ambiguity, project structuring, and driving to next order of questions and to output.
- Demonstrated ability to engage, influence and forge relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels;
- Demonstrated ability to provide thought leadership, with the ability to drive change and foster a culture of innovation within the organization;
- Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills with sound business judgement;
- Excellent writing and presentation skills, ability to develop high-quality content for diverse stakeholder groups
- Team player who enjoys a collaborative environment and high-performance culture.
