The Assistant Restaurant Manager plays a vital role in ensuring daily operations run smoothly, service standards remain uncompromised, and the guest experience is consistently exceptional.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Restaurant General Manager, the Assistant Restaurant Manager is the second-in-command in daily FOH operations. This role supports both the brunch and dinner/bar shifts, supervises the FOH team, and ensures DHOOM’s operational, service, and brand standards are met at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations & Shift Leadership
- Supervise FOH staff during both brunch and dinner/bar shifts.
- Oversee opening and closing procedures, ensuring readiness for service.
- Ensure service transitions between brunch and dinner are seamless and efficient.
- Maintain proper floor coverage and respond to service issues in real time.
Team Support & Training
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training FOH staff.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings in collaboration with the GM.
- Coach and mentor staff to ensure consistency in service delivery.
- Monitor staff performance and provide feedback for improvement.
Guest Experience & Service Recovery
- Engage with guests to ensure their experience exceeds expectations.
- Handle on-the-spot conflict resolution with professionalism.
- Track special requests, VIP preferences, and repeat guest experiences in OpenTable.
Administrative & Compliance Duties
- Assist with payroll processing and time tracking via Toast Payroll & Hubstaff.
- Ensure FOH operations meet ESA, WSIB, and AODA compliance requirements.
- Monitor and report on labor costs, sales, and service KPIs to the GM.
Collaboration with Other Departments
- Coordinate with BOH to ensure timely and accurate food delivery.
- Support the Guest Experience Manager and Marketing team during events and promotions.
- Assist in execution of soft launches, PR events, and seasonal campaigns.
Qualifications
- 3+ years in a supervisory or assistant manager role in upscale or high-volume dining.
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Proficient with Toast POS, OpenTable, Hubstaff, and Google Workspace.
- SmartServe certification required (or to be obtained before start date).

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour
