This role sits within Laurentian Bank.
Reporting to Manager of Recovery, the incumbent ensures a high level of team
performance by providing regular coaching and performance management of team members.
He/she the lead on resolving larger more complicated litigation matters, managing
various outsource partners including law firms, agencies, bailiffs and dealing with other parties
such as trustees, insolvency and fraud representatives.
Responsabilites
Ensures the development of recovery policies, programs, procedures and strategies to
reduce loss, contain costs and maximize recoveries.
Assist with the management of the employees responsible for mortgage litigation in accordance with best
practices, applicable legislation, policies, programs, procedures and collective
agreement, assesses their performance and ensures the development of their potential.
Provides coaching, direction and support to the balance of the recovery team with their day-to-day activities.
Creates and contributes to a positive team environment which encourages innovation, risk taking, and learning; speeds up team learning through sharing best practices.
Leverages the strengths and opportunities from all areas within the bank.
Empowers team to set recovery strategy and guides them through decisions pertaining to inhouse recovery, litigation, agency assignment and write-off.
Handles more complex files requiring escalation including high balance and complex litigation and/or insolvency situations as required.
Works interdepartmentally to provide feedback on procedural issues resulting in potential losses. This includes but is not limited to operational processes, collection
processes and property evaluations.
Oversees performance and service levels of established law firms and agencies to maximize recovery and minimize costs. Ensures team is aware of any changes in service providers. Where applicable helps to source new service providers.
Completes monthly financial reporting for write-offs and recoveries.
Write-off, recovery and deposit g/l reconciliations.
Review and report on monthly team performance.
Assist with hiring, new hire training and ongoing refresher training in the team.
Support Compliance with Regulatory and Internal Laurentian Bank Guidelines by:
Adhering to and ensuring team members' compliance with Know Your Customer requirements.
Adhering to all applicable Privacy laws and protecting customer information.
Reporting immediately any unusual occurrences or fraudulent activity and escalating issues/deficiencies/trends to the Compliance Officer and/or applicable supervisor/manager as appropriate
Performs any other similar or general task requested by their superior or required in the course of their duties course of their duties.
Qualifications
University Degree in business or a related field, with 5-10 years of related experience.or College Diploma in business or a related field and 10-15 years of related experience
Successful completion of Credit Management courses or designation through the Credit
Institute of Canada is an asset.
Minimum 5-10 years in collections and/or loss recovery.
Minimum 3-5 years' supervisory / management experience ideally in the field of financial services.
Results oriented, diplomatic, and adept at building customer relations.
Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills.
Ability to work closely with others in a team-oriented environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of financial services industry and lending products.
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Outlook a must; familiarity with using large and complex financial database systems; ability to learn inquiry functions in back-office processing systems.
Bilingual French/English required.*
- Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
