Assistant Building Supply Store Manager
Reports To: General Manager
Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
Supervises: Store Helpers, Sales Clerk, Drivers (in absence of Manager)
Job Summary
The Assistant Building Supply Store Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing daily operations, supervising staff, managing inventory, and ensuring excellent customer service. This role helps maintain efficient and safe store operations and steps in as acting manager when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support
- Open and close the store, including alarm deactivation, register setup, and facility readiness.
- Assist with purchasing inventory and custom orders, ensuring quality, pricing, and timely delivery.
- Coordinate with vendors and sales reps to maintain stock and fulfill customer needs.
- Support inventory processes and maintain accurate records of transactions.
Customer Service & Sales
- Assist customers with product selection, orders, and problem resolution.
- Handle customer complaints professionally and escalate when necessary.
- Participate in trade shows and product buying events to support product selection and sales growth.
Staff Supervision & Training
- Supervise warehouse staff and drivers in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the warehouse.
- Coordinate training on specialized equipment (e.g., forklifts, loaders).
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with company standards.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and operational regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; additional training in business or construction preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in building supply sales or a related environment.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Proficiency with computers and basic math skills.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate warehouse equipment.
- Frequent standing and walking on concrete floors.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor weather, dust, and noise.
- Use of personal protective equipment as required.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
