The Opportunity
RVS invites applications for four full-time (1.0 FTE) Area Substitute Elementary/Middle School Generalist(s). The successful candidates will be put on a contract with Rocky View Schools starting September 2, 2025 until June 5, 2026. This position requires travel therefore the successful candidate must be willing to travel to different areas around the division.
The successful candidate will work across the division at the elementary and middle school levels (K-9) to provide release time for teachers. Planning may be required, although no assessment or reporting will be required.
The schedule will vary from school to school and will be handled by a Learning Specialist under the direction of the Director of Instructional Leadership.

Successful candidates will possess:
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collegial environment, with all members of the learning community
- Understanding of and commitment to a teaching style congruent with RVS' vision, mission, and beliefs
- Strong pedagogical understanding as it relates to a variety of curricula
- Ability to quickly engage students in their learning while ensuring a classroom climate of respect and safety
- Communication in French is an asset

- The successful candidate must submit a current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of your employment
This position is not open to those holding a Continuing Teacher contract with RVS.
The successful candidate must possess, or be eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate and provide Human Resources with an original of their Teacher Qualifications Service (TQS) document.
