You as an Area Accountant for our Facilities Services department will:
- Manage the overhead budget and reporting to the Area Manager, as well as the receivables and late billing reports.
- Review monthly statements and ensure project teams are managing project financials as per the project specific business deal and adhering to EllisDon's best practices for financial management.
- Support Management with internal forecasts.
- Prepare financial reports and analysis for management and assist with month-end close and year-end processes
- Manage and coordinate proper functioning of the accounting, computer and area systems including providing administrative and technical support to personnel.
- Administer and ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly progress billings, receivables, subcontractor payments, bank deposits, and processing of trade payables.
- Manage all Area accounting databases to ensure timely upkeep, security, and control.
- Perform general ledger control accounts verification, identifying additions or deletions to accounts in general ledger to improve control.
- Provide assistance to Operations in job budgeting, forecasting, and analysis of the financial performance of projects. Participate in the development and maintenance of monitoring and reporting procedures.
- Prepare annual reports, review, forecast and flag anomalies for Executives of the area. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets for the Area. Review Area’s monthly financial report. Flag, investigate, resolve any anomalies, or escalate as required.
- Maintain and control Facilities Services petty cash account.
- Act as the subject matter expert in AS400 and EllisDon accounting systems providing required support and assistance to department staff
Is this the right role for you?
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Management
- 7-10 years of relevant experience and you have a strong accounting background
- Computer literacy with experience in Microsoft Office products and AS400 is essential, with computer technical knowledge an asset.
- Ability to negotiate and influence others. Must have the ability to build harmonious working relationships with clients, co-workers, senior leaders, and the general public.
- Extensive knowledge of all relevant provincial and local requirements including bonding, Insurance and Lien laws.
- Must have the ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a team environment.
- Must have the ability to build harmonious working relationships with clients, co-workers, and the public.
- The ability to exercise good judgment in recognizing scope of authority and protecting confidential information is a must.
