An exciting opportunity as a Application Coordinator exists in the Clinical Applications department, reporting to the Manager, Clinical Applications.
Job Description
As a member of WCH’s Information Technology team, the Application Coordinator plays an important role in WCH’s transition to an electronic patient record by providing subject matter expertise and leadership for their assigned clinical application both through implementation an on an ongoing basis. The Application Coordinator is the primary point contact for the assigned application and serves as a bridge between end users and the technical team. The Application Coordinator is required to gain an in-depth knowledge of the assigned application and is responsible for developing specifications for how the application should be configured to support organizational workflows. This role resolves all issues that arise during implementation of their assigned application and must develop an in depth understanding of related organizational policies, procedures, and business operations.
Summary of Duties, but not limited to:
- Analyses functionality of assigned application to determine how it should be used to best meet the needs of the end user
- Works with end users to understand their needs, develop build specifications and implements changes required for assigned application
- Coordinates resolution of issues related to configuration of assigned application using appropriate escalation paths as required
- Investigate problems and questions from end users
- Works with business areas to understand points of integration (e.g. health records, finance)
- Understands and work to prioritize and implement requested changes to the system
- Analyses data conversion needs
- Works with trainers to support development of a training and change management plan and materials for end users of assigned application
- Supports full system testing and go-live planning
- Identifies standard reporting tools and templates and develop process for authorizing the creation of new templates
- Analyses, provide specifications for, and develops individual reports as required
- Develops and writes test plans with expected results for detailed standalone and integrated
- Coordinates, manages, performs and sign-off all testing activities
- Provides post-implementation support for users, trainers and on unit support staff
- Identifies, track and communicate key issues regarding assigned application and escalate as necessary through established processes
- Maintains current and detailed documentation of all change requests and related decisions related to assigned application for due diligence purposes
- Maintains a current understanding of organizational practices and related industry rules and regulations
- Develops and documents internal procedures related to assigned application
- Reviews and tests each new release to coordinate enhancements as required
- Performs system maintenance as required

Qualifications
- Completion of an undergraduate Degree in Health Informatics or a related field
- Five (5) years’ of progressively responsible and related experience in a directly related field
- EPIC Ambulatory Certification, preferred
- Care Everywhere and/or Beaker Certification, asset
- Ability to travel to the United States to complete training, preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office, MS Visio, and MS Project
- Strong ability with system analysis and design
- Excellent problem solving and resolution skills
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to oversee several projects with competing priorities
- Ability to produce high quality reports and meet deadlines
- Strong initiative and self-managing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills in order to interact with individuals in a wide range of situations.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
