What we are looking for:
To support our growth, we are in search of an Analyst, Valuation to join the Fiera Comox Finance and Operations Team. Are you forward-thinking, passionate and want to make a difference to our investors, and our team? You will work on a wide range of valuation projects, ensuring these are carried out to a high-quality level, and on a consistent basis across the investment strategies we manage. You will report to our Vice President Valuation to deliver successful projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables and
analysis, while providing leading edge insights and value to our valuation process. This role will involve exposure to a broad array of sectors and geographies.
Your responsibilities:
As part of your responsibilities, you will be assigned the following duties:
- In close collaboration with our investment teams, the VP Valuation, and the fund accounting team, participate in the valuation work related to the establishment of the fair value of our fund investments for each of our private investment strategies
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual valuation reports for all strategies
- Provide on-going support to our investment teams
- Research and analyze market data in connection with business valuation work
- Coordinate our annual external valuation and audit processes
- Coordinate and work closely with our investment teams and fund accounting team on asset data collection and participate actively to our financial reporting
- Assist with monthly and quarterly performance calculations and other ad-hoc investors requests
- Ensure a high level of excellence on the quality of information through an advanced level of technical knowledge
- Take responsibility for the preparation of detailed financial modelling, financial analysis and the application of a variety of valuation methodologies
- Take responsibility for the preparation of Valuation Committee presentations and other deliverables
- Network, build and maintain relationships with our Investment Teams and external auditors and valuator
- Collaborating and providing support to other team members
Must have requirements to be successful in this role:
Education/Accreditation
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance or Accounting or MBA
- CBV or CFA designation (an asset)
Experience and specific skills
- 2 years of experience in finance or accounting with a focus on business valuation, financial analysis and/or financial modeling
- Knowledge of applicable Canadian accounting standards for fair value measurement
- Experience in the private equity industry considered an asset
- Advanced level with Microsoft products: Teams, Excel, Power Point
