What is the Opportunity?
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive, analytical, and driven professional to shape deposit pricing strategies at RBC Clear for U.S.-based institutional clients. This role will involve close coloration with Sales, Account Managers, Money Market Desk, Finance and other key partners to develop and implement competitive pricing approaches that drive value and growth for RBC Clear.
What will you do?
- Collaborate with Sales / Relationship Managers to provide and communicate rational, well researched, consistent, competitive and revenue-generating custom pricing quotes across deposits generated from institutional clients including corporates, public sectors and non-bank financial institutions.
- Work closely with Sales, Money Market desks, and other partners to integrate insights into pricing strategies that balance growth, stability, usage of transaction banking services and profitability for RBC Clear’s deposit portfolio.
- Communicate with stakeholders as to the driving factors behind pricing recommendations, presenting a well-thought-out and defendable view.
- Continuously refine deposit pricing methodologies to align with market and risk framework changes, competitive dynamics and client-specific relationships.
- Provide analysis / input into repricing initiatives based off historic balance trends vs. mandates and new market intel, helping to optimize revenue and growth.
- Maintain / improve and optimize pricing models in accordance with the value deposits bring to the Bank while customizing for client and industry-specific attributes.
- Analyze macroeconomic trends, market conditions, and peer pricing strategies to ensure RBC Clear remains competitive, while proactively identifying opportunities and risks.
- Conduct in-depth research on clients’ financial fundamentals and leverage sophisticated data analytics to produce actionable, data-driven pricing recommendations that are easy to interpret and aligned with RBC Clear’s strategic goals.
- Ensure meticulous documentation of all pricing requests; including detailed rationale, processing times, and client financial analysis to maintain transparency, consistency across industries and support accurate rate implementation.
- Collaborate with the Money Market desk to ensure the accurate booking of tickets and track the corresponding P&L impact to ensure financial integrity.
- Update pricing frameworks, workflows as needed.
- Ability to research and deep-dive the macro environment, interest rates, company-specific financials and competitive environments that could impact pricing behaviour.
- Be agile and ready to pivot and refine deposit pricing methodology to factor in recent developments and client feedback.
- Develop and maintain profitability, valuation and other applicable analytical models to evaluate and rationalize pricing decisions.
- Perform in-depth client research including analyzing any corporate actions that could impact client deposit base.
- Manage multiple pricing requests concurrently, while maintaining high-quality of due diligence.
What do you need to succeed?
- In-depth research capability, sourcing and analyzing data from various sources including Bloomberg and publicly available financial statements.
- Good grasp of treasury and balance sheet concepts (trading and non-trading), corporate deposits, Basel liquidity regulations and rules.
- Solid understanding of fixed-income valuation, interest rate derivatives and tractor/bond laddering.
- High degree of business and financial acumen - ability to communicate complex messages in a simple manner.
- Have rigorous attention to detail with the ability to grasp the big picture.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment which requires time-sensitive requests.
- Understands relevant market drivers and its implications on deposit behaviour and pricing.
- Ability to perform data-driven analytics and story-tell meaningful insights.
- Work with cross-functional teams and functional partners to design an efficient process architecture that adheres to all RBC policies and controls.
- Excellent partnership and communication with product leads, sales, technology and operations within RBC Clear for end-to-end pricing delivery.
- Ability to negotiate rationally with both internal and external stakeholders - including Sales / Relationship Managers - on deposit pricing related topics.
- Commitment to operational excellence - drive innovation and continuous process improvement.
- Programming skills (Python, SQL, VBA, Power BI and/or Tableau).
- University degree in a related field is required; graduate degree or CFA designation is an valuable asset.
