The Yukon Child and Youth Advocate Office is seeking recruitment of a full-time casual position for six months.
This competition will give preference to candidates of Indigenous ancestry.
Reporting to the Child & Youth Advocate, the Child and Youth Advocacy Caseworker is an advocacy specialist responsible for the provision of professional advocacy services for Yukon children and youth by providing information, assistance, advice and support to children and youth, ensuring they have access to Yukon government services, and their views and rights are considered in decisions made about them.
The Child and Youth Advocate is an independent officer of the Yukon Legislative Assembly responsible for administration of the Child and Youth Advocate Act. For more information about the Yukon Child and Youth Advocate Office, please visit https://www.ycao.ca.
Essential Qualifications:
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications. Please note selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information provided in the resume.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the field of psychology, child and youth care, social work, education, law, or other related discipline.
- Extensive experience engaging children and youth of all ages and abilities.
- Recent experience working with Yukon First Nations governments, Yukon government departments and Yukon community organizations.
- Extensive client experience including administrative responsibilities, record keeping, drafting correspondence and data collection.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to communicate effectively (both orally and written), conflict resolution skills, counselling skills, and experienced in working in a team environment.
Some travel is required.
