Job Summary
The Day Program Support Worker provides direct support to adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities in a structured day program setting. This role focuses on promoting personal growth, community inclusion, skill development, and meaningful engagement through individual and group activities.
The Support Worker collaborates with team members to ensure a safe, respectful, and enriching environment that upholds the rights, dignity, and choices of each person supported. Support is provided in accordance with individualized support plans, agency policies, and relevant legislation.environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support individuals in participating in daily activities including recreation, life skills, education, and community outings.
- Promote independence, choice, and self-advocacy by encouraging active participation in planning and decision-making.
- Provide personal care and mobility support as needed, including assistance with feeding, toileting, and hygiene.
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained at all times, including the safe operation of vehicles and equipment.
- Implement and document person-centered plans, goals, and progress.
- Foster inclusive relationships within the community and support individuals in developing social connections.
- Support individuals with behavior management strategies as outlined in behavior support plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily logs, incident reports, and communication notes.
- Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and professionals involved in the individual’s circle of support.
Qualifications:
- Certificate or diploma in Developmental Services, Social Services, Community Support, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities is preferred.
- Valid First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to transport individuals in agency vehicles if required.
- G License and full access to a vehicle is required.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
