Oatley Vigmond Personal Injury Law Firm is currently seeking a Full-Time Accident Benefits Assistant to join our Barrie Office. The successful candidate will have experience working with Tort Law, and possess strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem solving and creative thinking skills.
Job Summary
The Accident Benefits Assistants provide daily Administrative support to the Accident Benefits Specialists.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Acquire protected account directions for client file request updates on balances, route to team to request final balances prior to settlement
· Complete OCF6s and submit to Insurer for payment to client, following-up if payment not received
· Enter limitations in ProLaw (PL), with full details and limitation date
· Enter in medical events, contact client and provide date, request confirmation of attendance, arranging transportation if required
· Send correspondence to assessors office and burn medical CD for assessor
· Schedule case conference meetings and mediations
· Schedule and request catastrophic/expert appointments, reports and transportation
· Scan and route all reports from providers to applicable team members
· Send out initial AB Letter requesting file, forwarding any documents or files requested by AB and request prepayment
· Enter and update documents sent to AB
· Request payments/coordinate and communicate to clerks regarding any partial payment by tort
· Request any changes regarding new providers, contact numbers, etc. to PL
· Complete or assist in application for mediation, provide all supporting documentation and submit
· Enter reminders for SOC, reviewing for any errors or omissions
· Provide limitations reports and review new files in PF for any denials and immediate limitations
· Send general inquires, letters, phone and email communications to AB, client, etc. Draft and send partially completed Treatment and assessment plans OCF18 to providers to submit
· Provide the following charts for ABS: protected accounts, limitations, 60 day LTRs, AB status on each new client
· Other additional duties assigned
Qualifications and Skills
Mandatory
· Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining superb organizational skills, attention to detail and high level of accuracy
· Ability to deal effectively and pleasantly at all times with colleagues, clients and 3rd parties
· Strong time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
· Knowledge of Outlook calendar and Microsoft Office Suites with the ability to learn additional software applications with ease
· Confident and dependable, with strong initiative and ability to work both independently and in a team oriented atmosphere
Preferred
· Minimum of 2 years experience as an Accident Benefits/Tort Legal Administrator/ Law Clerk in Personal Injury Law Firm
· Completion of a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk Program or equivalent program using same skillset
· Extensive knowledge of the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS) and the Rules of Civil Procedure
· Experience working in a fast pace environment handling 150+ ab/tort files
· Superior communication skills, both verbal and written
