About the Job

The Manager Data Analytics will lead a team of data scientists/analysts to apply data mining techniques, conduct statistical analysis, and build high-quality prediction systems to support data-driven decision-making that produces high-quality outcomes. The role will lead technical innovation, working directly with senior leadership and junior individuals alike to support teams across the company, including regulatory, operations, financial, legal, and people and culture with insights gained from analyzing internal and external datasets.

About You

  • The Manager, Data Analytics, needs to be curious and have a passion for data; in particular, they must have the ability to use data analytics to inform and guide business direction.

Machine Learning Skillset

Understand the key principles of Data Science and Machine Learning, programming languages and data science toolkits such as, Python, R, Weka, NumPy, MatLab and query languages such as SQL, Hive, and Pig. Research open data sources and identify new data sources/patterns that further enhance machine learning models. Develop innovative solutions to machine learning problems such as sample selection bias, and supervised learning.

Quantitate and Qualitative Analysis Skillset

Demonstrate deep understanding of quantitative theories around client safety behaviors and triggers in use of analytics and be able to communicate, oral and written, effectively the analytical use cases both internally and externally. Understands methodological strengths and applicability of market research insights. Assist in leading consumer insights research to make recommendations to senior leadership on organizational strategy and direction.

Decision Support Skillset

Provide advice and guidance on data science within the organization to help make sound safety decisions. Ability to talk to the wider business, and stakeholders about data and best practices within the field. Work closely with project managers to understand and maintain focus on their analytics needs, including identifying critical metrics and KPIs, and delivering actionable insights to relevant decision-makers. Ability to pull out sage insights from broad data analysis, translate it into strategy and communicate it to disparate internal and external audiences. Manages the consultation service to other teams in the business to demonstrate how they too can use data to drive results for the business.

Education:

Successful completion of a four year university education with a Bachelor of Science or Administration or computer science or sociology or by having the equivalent level of education. A Masters degree in Data Management is an asset.

Experience:

6 years of progressive responsible experience in data management or adjacent fields (such as epidemiology). Management experience is an asset.
