About the Role:
We are seeking a new part-time Weekend/Swing Host in Peterborough, Ontario. Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will work a minimum of 12 hours per week on Saturdays and Sundays, plus, vacation and sick-time coverage as required. We're looking for a motivated, digital savvy, personality who'll help grow our position in the market. We're talking ratings and revenue - on-air and online. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who thrives personal growth while building relationships with co-workers, listeners and clients. ‘Content is King (or Queen)' so we're looking for a creative individual who can consistently generate compelling local content for A25-54. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to get a foot in the door with the determination to secure a full-time gig.

  • Consistent content curation, show-prep and great storytelling

  • Daily content contributions to the station's website and social media platforms

  • Regular weekend shifts, plus, vacation and sick time coverage (as required)

  • Personal marketing for the show and brand at station events & community functions

  • Live remote broadcasts (as required)

  • Positive participatory role in air-checks, programming and promotional meetings

  • Any other responsibilities as assigned by management on an on-going basis

  • You have a minimum 2 years on-air experience with a good sense for trending news/stories

  • You are a dynamic host who can entertain, engage, laugh and "think on your feet"

  • You are disciplined with show-prep and excel at bringing compelling content to life

  • You are social/new media savvy and thrive to express your creativity online/on camera

  • You strive to embrace your listener's lifestyle(s) and relate to the station's target audience

  • You are a positive person in the halls who thrives on "good culture"

  • You are a mature person who is accountable and solution focused

  • You excel at collaborating with others yet work well with minimal supervision

  • You possess a valid Ontario driver's license and a "clean" driving record / Driver's Abstract

  • You speak the English language clearly with expression and confidence (on and off the air)

  • You have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

  • You are reliable and punctual with excellent time management skills and a flexible schedule

  • Knowledge of iMediaTouch, Vox-Pro and Burli is considered an asset

  • You have a positive, friendly manner and customer service approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with empathy and sincerity.
